Albert Ng: No probs. Yah pretty sweet specs, the AF/MF button is a very nice addition. I did notice that too, I wondered why they shot it with the 50mm and not the new lens. The only thing I could think of is that the lens isn’t ready yet but the body is, and with all the recent announcements they wanted to get their news out too. And yeah I guess most people would opt for body only and get a better lens.

Interestingly, I think the AF/MF button gives (almost instantaneous) full-time manual focusing to every lens, the same way SuperSteadyShot gives optical stabilization to every lens. Similiarly the Dynax 7-like dual cross-type sensor and strong focus motor gives almost AF-S/USM like performance to every lens.

I wonder why almost no shots of the camera feature the 16-105mm though. I’m guessing that people would opt for a cheaper package (the Dynax 7 with Minolta 24-105mm F3.5-4.5 didn’t catch on as well as the Dynax 7 with Minolta 28-80mm F3.5-5.6… which I guess explains why a Canon 30D would come with a low-spec 18-55mm F3.5-5.6.)
