vicky: It means lenses than don’t have an autofocus motor built in won’t focus on this camera, they will be manual focus only (lenses like the cheap prime 50mm f/1.8D). For most lenses they have an AF motor inside though so they are fine on the D40(x).

Ah…it’s not too late to catch this news! But I’m kinda lost when it was said as a AF handicapped camera.

Albert Ng: Yah I’m sad about the lack of the AF motor in body. I think a lot of people will buy th D40 and grow out of it rather fast. Unless they know exactly what they want, then the D40 and the 18-200mm VR lens could be the best travel combo available. Light with SLR quality, in lens image stabiliser, great noise handling and equivalent to 11.1x zoom!

Karheng: I’m predicting street price, the price we would pay in the shops, not direct conversion which would give RRP.

i think you forgot that RM to USD conversion is still at 3.4-3.5..

Argh yet another handicapped AF camera. Knowing the consumer market who doesn’t know better, the 10mp D40x will kill the D40, which will only be bought by cash-strapped people who will sell it after half a year.

Olympus finally caught up with a bang, what with the E410 and E510, with CCD-shift IS and Live View with (blacked-out) Auto-Focus!
