The brightest cheap lenses are D and not G lenses. Imagine the fun that those on a tight budget will have with this and a 50mm F1.8D, without AF and all. ...unless Nikon makes a bright G lens, which presumably would be made wider because the rear element can be closer to the focal plane. 24mm F1.8G anyone?
