Thanks so much for a very informative read... very easy to understand for a complete noob like me :)

I do have one question which I hope you will help out with... I tried taking some pics (in A-mode) with high f-stop (small aperture) to get most everything in focus and the camera automatically compensates with a slow shutter speed. The problem with this is I almost always get a blurred out pic. I'm taking the photo by hand.

What am I doing wrong? :(

Awesome tutorial! Very well put, and easy to understand. I have no knowledge of photography and am currently taking a course at the university. This has helped me understand so much, and I even typed notes from this =)

THANK YOU!

Glad you all enjoyed it :)

Albert/Lanatir: Yah good point, will consider that in the future.

Chen: It does, you can set it to Av mode, that's aperture priority, then you can adjust the aperture according to your need. So put the brightest aperture, then zoom to the max, you should get a nice blur in the background. That's why I like A-series cameras, they have full manual controls.
