Interesting model ….. actually still thinking which one to get as a backup camera …. the S3 IS , Ixus 800 IS or this one

Alex: Great cam! That 0cm macro is ultra cool.

Sbanboy: S3 IS is of course the best cam, but it’s quite large, I wanted something more compact and I think this one just hits the spot! I’m waiting to see some detailed performance on this one, looks good so far tho, should be about RM1300 including 1-2gb memory/case etc.

The Ixus 800IS also very compact but less manual controls…yeah I guess the A710 will be ideal …. awaiting your review …

Not meant as sexual stereotyping, but I might get one for Mrs Intensecure - because she has a much better eye than me, and takes great photos. This has the features, and the sensible “handbag” size (OK, that’s the sexist bit;) ) Looks like a great all-rounder.

Sbanboy: Yah D200 No more 20″ LCD, new handphone and Sub for my car now hehe. D200 is WOW though..

Intensecure: Nothing sexist about that at all, I think this is a great all rounder and it gives room to learn aswell as it has full Manual mode. Not sure when I’ll be able to get it though hehe. Maybe next year. BTW if you’d like to review your cam for Digisniper it’d be cool, I like consumer reviews rather than pro reviews.

Have updated the post as someone bought the camera this weekend and mailed me the info.

@Shaolintiger - yes, just spotted Sunflowers aquisition of this Canon, must say that it looks great and at a keen price. Maybe Mrs Intensecure would prefer the FZ30…
I asume you meant an early review of the Canon if I can get my hands on one rather than the very over-reviewed and obsolete (*sigh*) FZ30?
Many congrats on yr D200, may it never stray from your hands!!

I spotted the new Canon Powershots in Berjaya Times Square! A710IS at RM13xx, A630 at RM12xx, A640 at RM14xx. Prices WOULD be cheaper elsewhere but I didn’t check. Yay to Canon’s relatively timely delivery! (Though I remember the A610/A620 arriving in Singapore a month earlier.)
